Middle School Programs

CIJE provides schools with STEAM curriculum units, specialized equipment, and mentoring by engineering and education experts for grades K-5 programs. This mentoring includes customized teacher support so that each teacher can successfully implement CIJE programs. Teachers in CIJE schools join a network of Jewish day school STEAM teachers for curriculum sharing and support.

CIJE STEAM Middle School (CSLS)

The CIJE-STEAM Middle School (CSMS) Program enhances student interest in STEAM and exposure to engineering through hands-on experiences. Learning the fundamentals of engineering provides the foundation needed for deeper learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

The curriculum includes small group collaborative work, hands-on activities, and experiments to promote inquiry and curiosity. Learning is connected to the real world through an emphasis on the application of STEAM subjects to everyday life, employment, and the surrounding environment.

CIJE Bytes

CIJE Bytes is a hands-on basic electronics and computer programming curriculum intended for novice students in Middle School and ninth grade. Students will work in teams of three to learn how to use the Bytes electronic components. They will write programs to control those components in Arduino’s Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

CIJE Robotics League

The CIJE Robotics League challenges Elementary (4-5), Middle (6-8), and High School students to work together to build a robot that will compete in a challenge. Schools participate either by running a Robotics class or forming an extracurricular Robotics Club. Students learn advanced programming, mechanical building, teamwork, and problem-solving. CIJE runs multiple tournaments throughout the year. Click here to learn more.
