Lower School Programs

CIJE provides schools with STEAM curriculum units, specialized equipment, and mentoring by engineering and education experts for grades K-5 programs. This mentoring includes customized teacher support so that each teacher can successfully implement CIJE programs. Teachers in CIJE schools join a network of Jewish day school STEAM teachers for curriculum sharing and support.

CIJE STEAM Lower School (CSLS)

New for 2023-24: CSLS is a modular, NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) aligned, K-5 science curriculum for Jewish day schools and yeshivot. Each grade level offers Earth, Life, and Physical Science modules. The modules include:

  • Teacher instructions
  • Student worksheets
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Lists of materials required

CIJE will offer virtual professional development in the summer, and support continues year-round via your school’s CIJE mentor.

CIJE Robotics League

The CIJE Robotics League challenges Elementary (4-5), Middle (6-8), and High School students to work together to build a robot that will compete in a challenge. Schools participate either by running a Robotics class or forming an extracurricular Robotics Club. Students learn advanced programming, mechanical building, teamwork, and problem-solving. CIJE runs multiple tournaments throughout the year.

Math Matters

CIJE offers Virtual Math Professional Development for Elementary and Middle School teachers. These virtual sessions are on Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings several times a month. Lower school topics include numeracy, fluency, place value, and word problems. Middle school topics include measurement, fractions, integers, and more. These sessions provide relevant, easy-to-use strategies that promote accuracy, automaticity, and fluency. Schools may request additional custom Math Professional Development for an additional fee. SuccessMaker

SuccessMaker® is a digital Math and Literacy program for students in grades K-8. This adaptive program offers differentiation and personalization to help students succeed. SuccessMaker® delivers tutorials, practice, challenges, and remediation. It instantly adjusts pacing and sequencing. SuccessMaker® provides educators with valuable data and assessments that should drive classroom instruction. CIJE subsidizes the cost of SuccessMaker® licenses. Additionally, CIJE provides an educational liaison to support teachers in maximizing this program’s benefits.

Waterford Early Learning

Waterford Early Learning® is a computer-based adaptive tool designed to help kindergarten children build the foundation for a lifetime of learning. The Waterford program offers three years of individualized instruction in Reading, Math, and Science to meet the unique learning needs of each student. Students in pre-k and kindergarten enjoy easy navigation, differentiated instruction, audio, and multimedia prompts to ensure success. CIJE subsidizes the cost of Waterford licenses. Additionally, CIJE provides an educational liaison to support the school.

iTaLAM

iTaLAM is a digital blended learning environment based on the printed TaLAM Hebrew language and Jewish heritage curriculum. It is a cross-denominational, interactive curriculum used by a spectrum of Jewish school settings. CIJE-partnered schools using iTaLAM are eligible for a per-student subsidy.
