Yeshiva League Science Olympiad 2026
Full-day, multi-event science competition giving Jewish day school students the chance to compete, collaborate, and excel.
About the Competition
The Yeshiva League Science Olympiad brings together Jewish day school students for a rigorous, hands-on science competition. Teams of two represent their school across 12 competitive events spanning biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, and engineering & technology. An overall champion is crowned based on cumulative results across all events.
Sample Events
Bridge Challenge (Build Event): Teams design and build a structure using limited materials that must hold maximum weight. Built at school in advance and tested on the day.
Write It, See It (Team Challenge): One teammate describes a specific, complex object in writing. The other must reconstruct it from scratch using the same materials. Precision and communication are everything.
Written Tests: Subject knowledge tests across biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.
Lab Events: Hands-on lab activities requiring real-time problem solving and scientific reasoning.
Why This League Exists
The national Science Olympiad has long been held on Shabbat, effectively excluding observant Jewish students from participating. This league was founded to create a Shabbat-friendly competition where Jewish students can participate fully and compete at the highest level.
Previously run by The Jewish Education Project for many years, CIJE has stepped in as a partner to carry this tradition forward, ensuring the Yeshiva Science Olympiad continues with the same spirit of excellence while expanding opportunities for more schools.
