In preparation for this year’s STEAM Conference, please consider the following technology requirements in order to make your experience successful. Free wi-fi will be available.

Technology:

Participants are expected to bring a laptop the meets the following requirements for the conference.

  • At least one free USB port
  • USB to USB C adapter if needed
  • Laptop charger

PC Laptop (Preferred)

  • Windows 11, with the latest updates.

Apple/Mac Laptop

  • macOS 11 or above, with the latest updates.

Chromebook- (A Chromebook is the device that is most challenging) it is best to avoid bringing one! We recommend Chromebooks purchased after 2022, with the latest updates.

  • TABLETS (iPad etc.) Are Not Recommended due to their general lack of external device support.

Permissions/Settings- If you are bringing a school managed device, please see the Permissions section at the end of this document

Please contact your IT or technology support person to ensure the following permissions, security settings have been set prior to your arrival. We recommend that you make arrangements so that you can reach your IT/Support person during the conference to ensure a trouble-free experience.

The following settings/configurations are required for this conference.

Administrative rights and permissions/security settings to allow:

  • Unrestricted use of the internet based searches and applications.
  • The installation of windows/mac/android based applications.
  • The installation of device drivers.
  • The use of USB hardware devices (Arduino Uno for example).
